I like soccer

For the most part I feel unlucky that I got stuck with all the lowest level classes in the school. But sometimes the situation allows for some hilarity.

Today an elementary kid was trying to write the word soccer. Look, teacher! COCCK, he wrote. "That doesn't say soccer, that says cock - kuh aw kuh". Ah ha ha.

Today one of my bratty and annoying 9 year olds called me fat or something. On some days I just can't be an adult. But she doesn't understand the retorts. It's like calling my dog a "moron" in a sweet voice and she still comes running.

You think I'm bad? You should hear what the other teachers say.

That's horrible that they would say that to you....if I were in your shoes I'd be mumbling stuff under my breathe too.

I definitely understand that students saying this is hurtful, as I've had some say it to me as well. But, I'd get the same thing when I was out shopping for clothes. The salepersons would say it too! I think we just have to take it with a grain of salt. Some Koreans have really no idea that what they're saying might hurt your feelings and they don't have a range of vocab. words to make it sound less hurtful, also sometimes common sense is lacking. I would usually just tell them not to say it again and that it hurt my feelings (made me sad) and they got the idea! ;)

I sometimes kick people who give me funny looks because I'm emotionally disturbed.

Seek help.

It's a common thing here.. I think people both lack English vocabulary and are also more openly critical.

As for you, Michael, you certainly are, aren't you. Barfinkle. Mwa ha ha ha.

It's not nighttime here, it's daytime.

Aww Dan, you know just what to say to take a girl's breath away. You sure it wasn't shirt? D'Arcy taught her kids the word shit.. full meaning and all!

Hey Jess I understand how you feel. I have one little girl who says it often and I had a chat with her and explained it isn't nice to say things like that and I found out she just didn't understand how to tell me I was bigger then she was...perhaps she was just trying to sugarcoat her true feelings...the things that bug me the most is questions about my boobs...they seem to be extremely facinating to the kids..but you definitely are NOT fat not even close..tall maybe..fat no way!

Thanks, thanks, thanks. I don't think I'm fat!!! I just don't need a little brat telling me I am.

Kids say the darndest thing, especially in Korea.
